My name is Alexander Wetterhall and I am 25 years old. I´m a cyclist from Sweden who’s been racing since the age of 11.
I was born in a village called Gislaved. At the age of 16 I moved to Skara for my education at the Swedish cycling academy. I was selected as one of four mountain- and road cyclists from the whole of Sweden.
My career started as a mountainbike rider but in 2009 I turned my attention to road racing and 2010 was the first season I was 100% committed to road cycling. I took a big step 2009 when I won the Swedish National TT title.
I was improving even more during 2010 and I won the Over-All in the 8 day stagerace FBD Insurance Rás, Ireland, a Stage win in RingeRike GP, Norway, and a 7th place at the TT of Tour of Denmark as my best.
I was starting the 2010 season for Continental Team Sprocket pro cycling, with 2004 Paris-Roubaix winner Magnus Bäckstedt and Martin McCrossan as DS and we were doing an ok European race program. But in August I got a big opportunity when I got a Stagiare contract with Cervélo TestTeam to do my best for a neo-pro spot for the 2011 season, but caught out by their folding.
I signed for British Endura Racing in the end of 2010 with more motivation than ever to improve and try to do an even better season in 2011. I´m happy to be part of the Endura Racing squad who´s got good ambitions, race-program, riders, staff and sponsors.
I see myself as an all-round type of rider. Even if I improved a lot this year as a climber I might not be the fastest there, but what I lack at some parts I gain due to tactical skills and the ability to ride fast against the clock.
